Rarely is work in the field of art universally recognized as ground breaking, innovative, relevant as well as aestically masterful.   These divergent planes rarely meet to create a cohesive whole. In the world of comic books this phenomenon seemed impossible as demographics, conservative hierarchy and formal oversight as well as a need for speed above total excellence prevailed. However, in the late 60’s when Denny O’Neil joined forces with Neal Adams they accomplished the unattainable. They tackled taboo social issues with a ferocity that  personified the rebellious, questioning American culture in those magic years of 1969-1972.

Sadly, Adams only created 13 issues with the magic team of Green Lantern and Green Arrow. Presented with contrasting ideology the duo were able to present a multi-faceted view of issues such as; overpopulation, corruption, pollution, cults, religion and drugs. The art was shocking for the medium and mature in its content. Each cover exhibited varying techniques and approaches. Adams dynamic anatomy applied to the most turbulent and controversial of substance. Each book is considered essential, each cover a classic. Rarely has the original art been available.

It is with great pride that we present the original art to Green Lantern #77.  Of significance is that some of the techniques that Adams used for a few of the covers required the use of separate overlays or actual photographs. A collage approach resulting in some of the covers not wholly original art as opposed to this cover.
